50,000 YEARS AGO…

… groups of Neanderthals used to make temporary stops on a natural path between the lower foothills of the Pyrenees and the Segrià plains in the Cinglera de Cascalda. The geological processes that occur in these impressive cliffs have preserved many traces of those Neanderthal occupations. Most of these findings come from what we know today as the archaeological site of Roca dels Bous.

NOWADAYS…

… people of all ages walk again along this old Neanderthal Territory. Thanks to the use of digital touch-screens and to experimental activities, Roca dels Bous and the Archaeological Park of Sant Llorenç de Montgai provide a window onto the past that shows how these ancestors and their lives were and how archaeology can help to reveal it.

Roca dels Bous is a project developed by the Research Centre of the Archaeological Heritage of Prehistory of the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona (CEPAP-UAB). The research annually conducted has a final scope to share the knowledge we have gained from this archaeological site.
